Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is American Canadian singer and songwriter. Her work has been released on over 20 albums. DiFranco's music is classified as alternative, folk rock and pop, however she also draws influences of hip-hop and jazz. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement being one of the first musicians to launch her own record label in 1990. DiFranco is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They met at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian descent, and her mother came from Montreal. 32 Flavors is a song that was written by as well as performed by Ani DiFranco. The song is featured on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. Another version of the song appears on the film soundtrack of the 1999 Canadian love story Better Than Chocolate. In 2013 DiFranco apologized for her actions after it was announced the fact that she had planned a three-day workshop at a former Louisiana plantation for slaves. Although she cancelled the workshop however, a lot of people (including our paper) didn't feel any remorse. DiFranco apologized for her mistake within a few days of the first. She is known for her Little Folksinger, but she's performed with many musicians and styles that range from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. Her home is New Orleans. Ani diFranco along with Kristen Ford are together. By 14 she was making her own songs. The songs were played in bars and coffee shops throughout her teens. DiFranco has graduated from her Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school when she was 16 and started attending classes at Buffalo State College. Her new baritone is customized by Alvarez, made by Chrys Johnston, who at the moment was employed as the Alvarez artist rep. The instrument is constructed from solid woods. She is at her home located in New Orleans with her husband along with her two children, and Lefty the dog with a long leash who is constantly in and out of view as we talk. Thirty years into her professional career DiFranco admits to having doubts about seeing herself in the rearview mirror. Ani DiFranco is a punk/folk musician and songwriter who was only 25 when she launched her 7th album Not A Pretty Girl and gained even more recognition in the music industry by releasing Dilate. The song was originally released in 1972 of the American pop band Looking Glass. Elliot Lurie was the Looking Glass guitar player and also the singer.
